Archetypal Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

This is a view beloved of visitors. It shows King's College Chapel from the lane in King's at springtime.

We walk through here most Tuesdays.

Daffodils were early.

King's College Chapel, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

We walk here most Tuesdays and rather take it for granted. Some people travel half way around the world, at great expense, to see it.

As locals, we can see it for free. Cambridge has many fine buildings.

Bridge Street, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

There are many fine buildings in Cambridge. Often these are associated with the university. Many that are not college buildings are owned by a college. I am not sure if this one, which dates from the 1500s, is owned by a college.

Nearly spring? - NOT amateur radio

According to the UK Met Office we are already in spring. I agree.

The photo collage shows Cambridge yesterday. Lots of daffodils out.

Our day - NOT amateur radio

On Tuesdays, we go to a free concert at the university in Cambridge.

We grab a bite to eat first, walk through the Grand Arcade and the grounds of King's College.

The collage here captures this.

King's Parade, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

Occasionally the sun does shine in an English winter, although we have had far more rain than normal. Please don't say we have a hosepipe ban this summer!

The photo shows King's Parade on Monday when the sun was shining. King's College is out of shot on the left and the church is Great St Mary's, the university church.

Yesterday - NOT amateur radio

On Tuesdays, we go to a lunchtime university concert in Cambridge. This is free with a retiring collection. This involves a walk through the grounds of King's College, and we grab a bite to eat for lunch beforehand. We travel in to Cambridge by (free) bus. It is usually a very enjoyable day.

By King's - NOT amateur radio

At the end of January there are few punts on the River Cam. These Canada Geese have the river almost to themselves.

Round Church, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

The Round Church in Cambridge is very old.  It is one  of just a few in England.

Punting on the River Cam last week - NOT amateur radio

As long as you wrap up well, I guess this time of year is a good time to go punting. The photo shows last Tuesday when it was cold and bright. In the summer the river can be busy.

Scenes around Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

My wife took the photos in this collage last week. At least one place  should be familiar!

A lot of grass! - NOT amateur radio

The colleges in Cambridge have a lot of grass to cut. King's College (shown in the photo) is no exception.

The college lawns are always immaculate. Mind you, I doubt they are short of money!

Outside our post office - NOT amateur radio

Our village (Burwell, Cambs, UK) is a mix of old and new buildings. This photo was taken about now several years ago. One of the trees was rotten and taken down, but has been replaced by a cherry tree.

Misty Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

When we went to Cambridge on the bus earlier, it was very misty.

This soon cleared and it has been a lovely day.

Cambridge autumn - NOT amateur radio

This was taken from the bus earlier today. It shows one of the many parks in the city.

Grand Arcade, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

The Grand Arcade in Cambridge is a covered indoor mall, near the centre of town. It has some big named stores as well as a Raspberry Pi shop for geeks! It is gearing up for Christmas.

This is a view on one of the quieter sides.

King's College Chapel, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

Walking back along this path I noticed the clouds behind the chapel.

Lucky? - NOT amateur radio

Every Tuesday we go to see a free concert at Cambridge University. Today it was the Kingsmen who were male singers from King's College Choir. It was note perfect and sublime. It is very easy to take Cambridge for granted.

Wet King's College, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio

My wife took this photo last Tuesday. We missed most of the rain. This is the path up to King's.
