Yesterday we did a nice walk around the village and saw these flowers.

Wild flowers - NOT amateur radio

These wild flowers are about 5m from our house. They are by the path to our local museum and windmill next door.

Crouching down - NOT amateur radio

One of the issues with getting old is crouching down. If you get down, it is hard to get up! However, we have an answer - grandsons! At their age they have no problems with hips or knees, so we ask them to take a photo. Problem solved.

Spring coming - NOT amateur radio

We went for a walk at nearby Anglesey Abbey. There are some spring flowers coming.

As the weeks progress we will see more. In the last 7 days many more snowdrops have appeared and we saw the first daffodils of the season.

Alstroemeria - NOT amateur radio

My wife loves these flowers, which last a long time and are colourful. We have some in the garden, but these are in our hall.

Nearly gone - NOT amateur radio

Summer has gone and it will soon be time to put in bedding plants to give winter colour. The plants at the front of the house still look OK, but are now past their best. This was the scene yesterday morning.

Garden flowers - NOT amateur radio

Most of the flowers in our garden have passed their best. Some still look good whereas others are starting to look a bit tired. We will put winter flowering plants at the front and new bedding plants in late in the spring. Some, as the photo shows, look good still.

It is funny how the nights get so much darker earlier at this time of the year. The rate of change speeds up and the change is noticeable.

Newmarket Flowers - NOT amateur radio

Newmarket is the world capital of horseracing. They also have some great flower displays.

Those in the photo are near the Guineas shopping centre.  The hanging baskets are usually good too.

This morning's walk - NOT amateur radio

This morning we went for a walk early. It was just under 3 miles. We call it the "Muntjac Walk" as we often see these on this walk.

We needn't go far as one has already decided some of our garden flowers make a good snack! I have no idea how they get in.

The flowers in the photo were seen on the walk. By the way it is now raining, so we chose the best time.

Chelsea Flower Show - NOT amateur radio

Two years ago we were bought tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show.

The photo shows one of the exhibits.

Recently seen flowers - NOT amateur radio

Already, the nights are getting shorter and there is a promise of spring, although we are still in the depths of winter. My wife took these pictures a few days ago.

Seen on our walk - NOT amateur radio

Some kind person put this colourful hanging basket on a footbridge where we walk.

We often see Muntjac deer on this walk. This introduced deer is now becoming very common. At night they bark (a dull monotonous bark) that can go on for ages! They eat garden plants A few years ago there was a Muntjac with young in the garden next door.

These days a walk around the village of 3.5 miles feels more like 7. All the time I am giddy and tired.

Crocosmia - NOT amateur radio

We saw this plant on a recent walk. I think it is called crocosmia, although I may have this wrong. It has bright red flowers that only last a few weeks.

Alstromeria - NOT amateur radio

The colourful flowers were a gift from a friend. I think you will agree they are very bright.

Spring - NOT amateur radio

On Sunday, we start meteorological spring. Not before time as we have had a dreadful February with lots of wind and rain.

This part of the UK has escaped lightly, but some parts have had heavy snow and others bad floods. It has been mild with few frosts here, but much wetter than when I first came to this area. Spring flowers are now appearing and not soon enough.

House plants - NOT amateur radio

My wife is very keen on house plants and we usually have several out at one time. We have had some cyclamen out for months (see photo).

Church flowers - NOT amateur radio

We must have a dedicated band of helpers at our local church putting out the flowers. These were the flowers in one window on our walk yesterday.
